Why The Mental Fundy?

The name Mental Fundy is a play of the word Fundamental.  It is also an allusion to the craziness that is the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement.

What is the purpose?

The purpose of The Mental Fundy is quite simple:

1. Declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ
2. Rightly discern Scripture
3. Expose the false teachings of the IFB ¹
4. Reach those imprisoned within IFB looking for help
5. Be above reproach and not vengeful in dealing with IFB.
6. Above all else, let God be glorified.

Who is The Mental Fundy

Right now it’s just me, prchrbill.  I am still behind the Fundy Curtain, that is, I am still part of an Independent Fundamental Baptist church.  I have spent over 20 years preaching and teaching in several of these churches.  Although I am still apart of this type of church, there are some differences between me and a full fledged IFB person.

1. I am not sold on King James Onlysim
2. I am not sold on a Pre-tribulation rapture.  I am what is called a Historical Pre-millennialist at worst.
3. I am a Calvinist
4. I own a TV.  That about does it, lol.

When will Posts happen?

Well, unfortunately I don’t have that much free time.  I work a full time job and have a large family.  As much as I care about getting the word out, I do have other responsibilities.  Hopefully, I can get some former ‘fundies’ to blog and be a part of this work.
